Hi @Devon Fell. I went to university. But apprenticeships are a great option too. If someone takes on an apprenticeship and finds that a degree is necessary for promotion, the company may help pay an apprentice to study a university degree part time. There are many different paths to becoming an engineer. The important thing is to enjoy what you are doing and be happy.

I went to Nottingham university. I didn’t know about apprenticeships at the time, if I did I would have definitely looked at doing it.

      Hi Devon,

I went to University and also had the opportunity to get some industry experience though summer placements (Lufthansa Airmotive – overhauling jet engines). I really recommend some level of industry experience for a engineering students, by apprenticeship or any other means. It really helps to put things in perspective i.e. you learn why the theory is important and how it is applied in engineering design.

I went to university. My company does take on apprentices and quite often they end up studying part time at university whilst working for us.
