• Question: do just do engineering or a different job aswell?

      My official job is being an engineer, but I do lots of other things that are not engineering! I do some risk management, and cost estimating, which is related to engineering but a bit different.

      Also, I’m really interested in engineering communication stuff, like going to speak at schools about engineering careers or doing things like ‘I’m an engineer, get me out of here!’

      Next month, I’m going to spend 3 weeks with BBC Radio science unit, to learn about science and engineering reporting! That is going to be very different to my usual job so should be fun :).

      Before becoming an engineer, I have had jobs in a factory, restaurants and a school for children with special needs.

      I am a lecturer too – so I teach students to be Mechanical Engineers. I try to show them what I do in research – so they can see what it’s all about
