Hi renotheRINO, I am working to make renewable energy (solar) more affordable. That way people will want to install panels on their roofs to provide them with hot water and space heating. It will mean that we will burn a lot less fossil fuels.

Hi @renotheRINO – My research involves developing new software tools that are used by engineers to design and build more efficient wind turbines and safer nuclear power stations. I am also involved in training the UK’s future fusion scientists. If we can build safe fusion reactors, we will have a fantastic source of zero-carbon energy that could fuel electic cars, electric trains and electric aeroplanes.

I work on extracting fossil fuels, but I work on doing this safely and efficiently. I’m really keen to teach people about climate change and what we can do to reduce its impact – next week I’m running a workshop for a group of students to about the topic. So even though I work in fossil fuels, I want to make the industry better because we do still rely on it at the moment and it won’t go away over night.
