• Question: If you were stranded on an island with the parts to make a plane (but you not allowed to make a plane or boat or submarine) what would you make?

      Can I build a jet pack :)?!

If the island was nice and I decided to stay, I would build some shelter and some stuff to hunt with.

I would make a nice shack and a handcart to carry food in. Is it a crashed commercial liner? If so, my shack would have a balcony on which I’d sit on drinking miniatures from the bar and I’d hook up on of the TVs to watch films on when I get bored of sunsets.

Well I think I’d have all the parts to make a gas fired power plant – but I wouldn’t do that. It’s a fresh start in an unspoiled unpolluted island – I think I’d have to find a stream and make a hydro-electic power plant using the turbine blades in the jet engine.

If there was no power, I’d use the pressurized air canisters (that are used in an emergency if the cabin depressurizes) to drive a dynamo (made from other bits and pieces) to power the radio and send out a distress signal. Whilst waiting to be rescued, I’d take some of the nets that hold magazines off the back of the seats and make a fishing net. After catching some fish, I’d have a barbecue and relax watching the sun set.

I’d probably just build a tree-house like the one in Swiss Family Robinson – if I could survive on a desert island, living in a tree-house like that… I’d be quite content at that! 🙂
