It is really very satisfying work….

I don’t think many people realise that it is actually a very creative job – we are always looking for new innovative and creative ways of solving problems or making things better.

I particularly like design – right from the beginning where as a group (usually) we do our background reading/research and then bounce ideas around before deciding on a POA (Plan of Action) which normally includes calculations/models etc. It is great when this then leads to a design and drawings and even a prototype. We’ll then test it, to see that it works an behaves like our predictions.

But there is even so much more to an engineer – working in society, with community groups, politicians, industry partners etc etc.

And i’s varied – so many and so different engineering discipline (Mechanical/Bio/Pharmaceutical/Chemical/Civil………) something for everyone.

I hope I’ve managed to get my enthusiasm for the job across – I really like it!
