I’ve made some very tasty cakes recently! To me that’s a great example of chemical engineering. You mix different things together, add heat, create something incredible!

A renewable energy test site. I’ve recently established a facility to test solar panels in the environment – so we can optimise their performance for the UK climate. We log data every second of every day (even at night – yes) and by fully understanding how they perform in real weather conditions we can make them better.

Hi @yelpir hpesoej nadia. I’d like to have said I’ve built a house from the bottom up, but I haven’t (yet)! However, I have renovated houses, focusing on improving energy efficiency: adding insulation to walls and heating pipes; switching to LED light bulbs and replacing old fridges and washing machines with energy efficient models. I’ve also made a rig tocharge my phone and tablet PC using solar panels.
