It would be the design of the building services in a university library.

When I was about 12 or 13, I took a set of walkie-talkies apart and with a couple of old phones (rotary dial – really old) , and I seem to remember some paper clips, little light bulbs, an old hollow door – I rigged together a “Radio Broadcast Station” at home.

      Nobody listened… 🙁

And so ended my careers as an Electrical Engineer – now a Mechanical Engineer – never look back!

I used to do arts and crafts all the time, probably from the age of about 6 years old, so I really can’t remember!! I recently presented a programme for BBC Learning, where I worked with a group of primary school students to make a night light for a toddler, so together we designed the outside of it and programmed some LED lights to go inside it :).

I worked in the team that designed the software that reads car number plates in car parks and prints it on the parking ticket. We hacked a 1990s games console and used its powerful gaming processor. We were all mates at school and did part time jobs to fund our company. The tricky thing is to find a number plate in a streaming video image. After that, it is not particularly easy to identify letters – all in less than a second!
