I haven’t thought that far ahead! Probably see what else is going on, find a new project that interests me and do that. I’d like to do something that uses more modern technology at some point, oil and gas extraction is quite well established and not experimental.

Some projects feel like they will never end – that they can always be better. Apple has a project to develop the iPhone – now they’re on the iPhone 6. So one project leads naturally to the next.

I also work on many projects in parallel and because it’s research some lead somewhere and sometimes we just have to say – it’s a bad idea and move on.

Generally, I let go of a project when it is “close to market” – at that stage companies get involved and try to make money from it.
