      Hi Jake,

Thanks for your question; the simple answer is that it depends on the class. Sometimes, I have a large group of 180, but I use technology to keep the lectures interactive: I use clickers (like “Who want’s to be a millionaire, Ask the Audience”) and Twitter (where comments display on my screen and I can share them as a discussion topic) and even YouTube (podcasts of my lectures etc). I also teach in small group (5 or 6) and even one-to-one when it comes to project work, laboratory demonstrations etc. One of the challenges for me and students is to adapt to different teaching and learning styles – but our focus is to give students “experience” – so by the time they graduate they are very rounded engineers.

      How’s that? My first question/answer!

      Tadhg
