      Excellent question!

I think the best answer is variety, in what other job would you be designing a composite aircraft wing, and the next sticking your head in a coal boiler! both of which were absolutely awesome things to have done!

Lots of travelling if you want it (I do!!). Engineering is international. Also, a lot of choice. You can choose from lots of different industries and lots of types of jobs. You can work in a nice office at your desk, or you can go on site and do something more practical. The world is your oyster as they say!!

Unique to engineering? I guess it’s working at the cutting edge of technology!

I like engineering because it allows me to think about science everyday and turn that knowledge into real machines and devices. It is a career that allows me to keep my creativity and imagination alive. I look forward to getting up in the morning and going to work.

When I was at school, I worked in a factory as a summer job, making cables for computers. I spent most of the time watching the clock, desperate for Friday to come. Although I hated the job, the experience was an excellent life lesson and made me work hard to have the fantastic job I have now.
