Being innovative! If you have a problem, you come up with a solution with the things you have around you. Also being curious about the world around you and asking lots of questions.

To be a successful engineer, the most important personal characteristic is to be interested in engineering and to enjoy working in engineering. This is true of any profession. Give somebody a job that they do not like and they won’t do it very well.

If someone likes Maths and Science and they think they’d enjoy applying what they learn in designing or building “real” things, then engineering is a great career choice.

Confidence, perseverance, resilience (not taking things to heart – I still need to learn that one!), curiosity.
